Getting Started with Overkot

Download & Launch

Head to the Download page and grab the installer. Run it and Overkot will be installed in seconds.

Once installed, launch Overkot from your Start Menu or desktop shortcut. It will appear as a small overlay window and an icon in your system tray (bottom-right of your taskbar) for easy access.

First Launch & Game Detection

When Overkot starts, it will display a "Waiting for game" status. This means it's looking for a running Soulframe process.

To connect:

1. Launch Soulframe — make sure it's running in Borderless Windowed or Windowed mode (required for overlays to render on top).
2. Log into the game and enter the world.
3. Overkot will automatically detect the game and switch to "Connected!" status.

Once connected, Overkot automatically picks up your timers, faction standings, and map position in real time. No manual configuration is needed.

Configuring Widgets

Overkot organizes all its features into individual widgets — timers, factions, map, and more — that you can add, remove, or rearrange to suit your playstyle.

To manage your widgets:

1. Click the widget icon (grid icon) in the top toolbar.
2. A panel opens showing all available widgets with toggle switches.
3. Enable the widgets you want. They'll appear immediately in the overlay.
4. Drag the ⠿ handle on any widget header to reorder them.

Available widgets include:

• Boss Timers — World boss respawn countdowns
• Crafting Timers — Item crafting completion times
• Daily Affiliation — Daily affiliation progress with 16,000 cap
• Faction Standing — Faction standing progress bars
• Group Finder — Find and create online groups
• Wiki Search — Search the Soulframe wiki
• Mini-Map — Interactive world map of Midrath

Boss Respawn Timers

The Boss Timers widget shows live countdowns for world boss respawn windows. When you defeat a boss in Soulframe, Overkot detects it and starts a countdown timer automatically.

Features:

• Each boss gets its own progress bar with remaining time.
• Timers count down in real time and persist between sessions.
• When a boss is ready to respawn, you'll see a "Ready" indicator.
• Enable alert popup and alert sound in settings to get notified when a timer completes.

If no boss timers are active yet, you'll see "No boss timers." This is normal — timers appear automatically as you encounter bosses in-game.

Crafting Timers

The Crafting Timers widget tracks all your active foundry recipes. When you start crafting an item in Soulframe, Overkot picks it up and displays a countdown with the item name and remaining time.

This works for all crafting durations — from quick 1-minute crafts to multi-hour overnight builds. Progress bars show completion percentage at a glance.

Like boss timers, you can enable alerts to be notified when a craft finishes, so you never leave a completed recipe sitting in the foundry.

Daily Affiliation & Faction Standings

Daily Affiliation shows a progress bar of how much daily affiliation you've earned toward the 16,000 cap. It updates in real time as you earn affiliation by playing. The remaining amount is displayed below the bar.

Faction Standing displays your current rank and progress with every faction at a glance. Each faction shows:

• Faction name
• Current rank number
• Standing progress bar (e.g., 41,200 / 50,000)

Both widgets update live — as you earn standing and affiliation in-game, the overlay reflects it instantly without opening any menus.

Interactive World Map

The Mini-Map widget opens a fully interactive map of the Midrath overworld. For a deep dive on this feature, see the Interactive Map Guide.

Quick overview:

• Zoom and pan the map freely to explore the entire world.
• POI markers show bosses, dungeons, vendors, resources, and more across 9+ categories.
• Live position — your character's location appears on the map in real time (press F6 in-game to enable position tracking).
• Use the Map Legend to toggle individual POI categories on and off.

Click the map widget to open it in a full-size window for easier exploration.

Group Finder

The Group Finder lets you find other players and form parties without leaving the game.

Setting Up Your Profile

1. Open the Group Finder and go to the Profile tab.
2. Set your Display Name (auto-detected from the game if connected).
3. Select your Primary Language and optionally a secondary language.
4. Choose your Region Preference if you have one.
5. Click Save Preferences.

Creating a Group Listing

1. Go to the My Listing tab and click Create a Listing.
2. Choose an Activity Type (Boss/Encounter, Farming, Quest, Exploration, Help, General).
3. Set a Goal describing what you want to do.
4. Choose how many slots you need.
5. Submit — your listing goes live instantly.

Joining a Group

1. Go to the Browse tab to see all open listings.
2. Filter by activity type, language, or region.
3. Click Request to Join on a listing that interests you.
4. Wait for the host to accept your request.

The Group Finder uses real-time updates — new listings and requests appear instantly without refreshing.

Wiki Search

The Wiki Search widget provides quick access to the Avakot Wiki directly from the overlay.

Type any item name, enemy, location, or keyword into the search bar and results will appear in an embedded browser within the overlay. This means you can look up crafting recipes, boss strategies, or item locations without ever alt-tabbing out of the game.

Display Options & Customization

Open Settings (gear icon) to customize how the overlay looks and behaves:

• Background Opacity — Adjust how transparent the widget backgrounds are.
• Font Colour — Choose from Default, High Contrast, Soft, Amber, Cyan, Red, or Pink.
• Bar Colour — Same color options for progress bars.
• Font Opacity & Bar Opacity — Fine-tune text and bar transparency independently.
• Compact Bars — Shrink timer bars for a more minimal look.
• Hide Bars / Hide Countdown — Strip bars or countdown text entirely if you prefer a cleaner view.

Changes apply instantly so you can preview everything in real time.

Click-Through Mode & Hotkeys

The Click-through overlay setting is one of the most important features. When enabled:

• The overlay becomes transparent to mouse input — you can click through widgets to interact with the game underneath.
• The overlay stays visible as an informational layer.
• Press the Interact Hotkey when you need to click on widgets (to open settings, manage group finder, etc.).

You can also enable "Hide widgets when game closed" to automatically hide the overlay when Soulframe isn't running, keeping your desktop clean.

Language Settings

Overkot supports 12 languages. To change the language:

1. Open Settings.
2. Find the Language dropdown.
3. Select your preferred language — the entire UI updates instantly.

Supported languages: German (DE), English (EN), Spanish (ES), French (FR), Italian (IT), Japanese (JA), Korean (KO), Polish (PL), Portuguese (PT), Russian (RU), Turkish (TR), and Chinese (ZH).

Tips & Best Practices

• Use Borderless Windowed mode — Exclusive fullscreen prevents overlays from rendering. Borderless Windowed gives you the same visual experience with overlay support.
• Let auto-updates do their thing — Overkot keeps itself up to date automatically. You'll always have the latest version.
• Drag widgets to reorder — Use the ⠿ handle on each widget header to arrange widgets in the order you prefer.
• Enable timer alerts — Turn on both popup and sound alerts in settings so you never miss a boss respawn or finished craft.
• Set up your Group Finder profile early — Having your language and region set means better matchmaking when you browse groups.
• Use the map's F6 tracking — Press F6 in-game to enable position tracking, then watch your blip on the mini-map in real time.
• Minimize to tray — Overkot can run from the system tray. Right-click the tray icon for quick controls without opening the full window.
